North Myrtle Beach, SC- The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce will celebrate their 9th birthday on Friday, August 8th. The Chamber has plenty to celebrate. Over the course of the past nine years; they have increased their membership to over 1,300 businesses and are still rapidly growing. During the last year, the chamber hired a new President/CEO, R. Marc Jordan, who was attracted to North Myrtle Beach following a 32 year chamber career, after returning to Lynchburg, Virginia, in 2005, to pursue other opportunities. Jordan previously served as the President/CEO for the Raleigh, NC and Memphis, TN Chambers of Commerce, prior to 2005. His knowledge and achievements in the chamber industry have served the North Myrtle Beach Chamber well since his hiring in February 2008.
"I continue to be impressed with the growth and development of this organization and its positive impact on this community over such a relatively short period of time," stated Jordan.
One of the most successful events the Chamber hosted in 2008 was the "Twice the Fun, Half the Distance, Experience North Myrtle Beach Bus Tour." The purpose of the trip was to draw visitors to North Myrtle Beach who might typically visit other coastal areas. The tour visited nine cities in four days, including in North Carolina, Raleigh, Durham, High Point, Cabarrus County, and Charlotte; in South Carolina, Rock Hill, Columbia, Camden, and Florence.
The mission of the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce and its members, as a business organization, is to promote continuous improvement in the North Myrtle Beach area by taking leadership in economic, tourism, and civic development and by actively supporting social and cultural activities.
