North Myrtle Beach, SC- The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitors Bureau will relocate to 1521 Hwy 17 South in North Myrtle Beach on August 18th and plans to open on Monday, August 22, 2011. Visitors needing information should go to the current location though August 21st.
The Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitors Bureau is currently located at 270 Hwy 17 North. This facility was constructed in 2001.
"We are very thankful to our Founders for having the foresight to place the Chamber on this site upon out creation back in 2000. It has provided us great visibility in the community and helped establish a strong presence and foundation for future growth. But, as with most growing and successful organizations, we have outgrown this facility, which has no options available for us to expand, or even own the site. As good stewards of our member's funds, our board has elected to relocate to our new facility which will serve us for many years to come," stated Marc Jordan, President/CEO.
The new facility is over 7,000 square feet and has enough space for the Chamber to hold meetings for large groups including their monthly board meetings and various Chamber events. The Visitors Center and Chamber administrative offices will be state-of-the art, with fiber-optic based technology.
"We look forward to welcoming more than 60,000 tourists and residents annually into our incredible new Visitors Center," stated Ruth Anne Ellis, Visitors Center Director. "Visitors will continue to be able to access information on accommodations, attractions, restaurants and other local businesses represented by our 1,200 Chamber members."
The Visitors Center will continue to be staffed by Information Specialists and in addition to offering member information will continue to offer copies of our free Visitors Guide including a map, Relocation & Community Resource Magazine, information on upcoming events, local artwork on display, clean restrooms, North Myrtle Beach postcards and official North Myrtle Beach merchandise including beach bags, towels, shirts, hats and more.
Visitors Center hours will slightly change; Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday & Sunday, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
The new Chamber headquarters is part of the Building North Myrtle Beach Plan, A Five-Year Sustainable Growth & Prosperity Initiative for the North Myrtle Beach Community.
The five-year action plan is be comprised of three strategies and a number of action steps to be implemented over the next five years:
- Grow the visitor and destination market
- Diversify the local economy and employment base
- Equip the chamber to function as the focal point for growth and development and state-of-the art business resource center
"Our new headquarters facility will not only provide us economic opportunities to expand our programs and services to our members, but it will function with the latest technology and equipment, including fiber optic infrastructure. This facility will also help present North Myrtle Beach as a premier site for corporate relocation and expansion in a first class business environment," stated Jordan.
A grand opening celebration for the new facility will be announced soon. For more information on the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce CVB visit www.NorthMyrtleBeachChamber.com.
