NORTH MYRTLE BEACH CITY PARKS

The City of North Myrtle Beach and its surrounding areas offer a variety of park facilities, recreation facilities and youth athletic facilities where you can play a game of baseball or enjoy a picnic in the park with friends and family.  We also have nature trails and beach trails where you can go horseback riding!  If you brought your bikes with you - or rented ones at a nearby beach shop-you can get your exercise and have fun riding bikes on the beach or on the many bike trails North Myrtle Beach offers.

Youth-oriented activities abound at the beach, where kids can splash in the surf, hunt for seashells or build sandcastles with other kids and families who are doing the same thing!  There are also many volleyball facilities, basketball courts and playgrounds for children to play on while having fun in the sun.  We are pleased to offer the following North Myrtle Beach area parks and recreational facilities:

J. Bryan Floyd Recreation Center/Central Park Recreation Center
Possum Trot Road; North Myrtle Beach
The J. Bryan Floyd Recreation Center/Central Park Recreation Center is a 20-acre park that has: four soccer/baseball/softball fields, four tennis courts, 1/4 mile paved trail, roller hockey rink, four basketball courts (including one indoor court), and a recreation center with two playgrounds, a concession stand, press box for games, restrooms, & twelve outdoor picnic tables.

City Park on the Atlantic Ocean - Ocean Park
First Avenue South, Ocean Drive Section; North Myrtle Beach.
City Park on the Atlantic Ocean provides a fun and relaxing oceanfront atmosphere that is perfect for walking on the beach and having a picnic with friends and family.

Hill Street Park
Hill Street and 24th Avenue, Cherry Grove Section; North Myrtle Beach.
Hill Street Park is small and offers a playground, picnic area and a tennis court.

McLean Park
Oak Drive, Ocean Drive Section; North Myrtle Beach
McLean Park is a ten-acre park that features: a two-acre lake, picnic tables, multiple grills, a walking trail, a softball/baseball field, two tennis courts, a roller hockey rink, and restroom facilities.  For those who like multiple physical activity options, McLean Park is the perfect place to spend a day being active and having fun!

Heritage Shores Park

Heritage Shores Nature Preserve is the newest and most unique park in the city.  The park is located on an island that extends into the Cherry Grove Marsh.  This land is preserved in its native state and is accessible via a series of boardwalks and observation docks.  Interpretive signage throughout the park describes the plants, animals, fishes and birds that can be seen in the park.  Park amenities include:

Virgil Yow Park
43rd Avenue South, Windy Hill Section; North Myrtle Beach
Yow Park is a one-acre park that features a basketball court, playground, restroom facilities and a picnic area.

Cherry Grove Boat Landing

53rd Avenue North; This popular fishing spot is located on the Cherry Grove marsh and provides boat access to the marsh and the Atlantic Ocean via Hog Inlet. Park amenities include:

• Boat launching area

• Fishing dock

• Picnic area

• Restrooms

Russell Burgess Coastal Preserve
Lake Street and 33rd Avenue North;
A scenic overview of the picturesque Cherry Grove Marsh which provides paved parking and access to the marsh for fishing and crabbing.
