North Myrtle Beach Chamber Of Commerce, Convention & Visitors Bureau Hosts Clemson University’s District Extension Director, Coastal District, Blake Lanford As Guest Speaker At First Friday Business Builder Breakfast March 2

February 22, 2018, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Leadership and executives from the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced today that Blake Lanford, Clemson University’s District Extension Director for the Coastal District, will serve as the featured speaker at the Chamber’s First Friday Business Builder Breakfast, which will be held from 7:45 -9:30 a.m., Friday, March 2 at The Conference Center at Barefoot Resort, and is sponsored by HTC.

Lanford’s presentation, will provide an overview of how locally raised food and products (farm-to-table) are impacting our economy and raising brand awareness. Local food stake holder partners will be included in the presentation to speak to their experience with local foods and how these types of food are providing sustainability. Lanford will also highlight the market season and local partners such as the Waccamaw Market Cooperative and the new Pee Dee Food and Farm Guide.

Mr. Lanford is the District Extension Director for the Coastal District including: Berkeley, Charleston, Clarendon, Dorchester, Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg Counties. He joined Clemson University in 2006 after five years as a planner for city, county and regional level planning agencies. His professional interest and experience includes that related to local and regional foods systems, farmers market and agritourism development, land use planning, economic development, open-space/parks planning.

Mr. Lanford is a graduate of Clemson University with degrees in Parks Recreation and Tourism Management (BS - 2000) and City and Regional Planning (MS - 2003).
